Today, Thursday, marks the sacred day of Hajj, known as Yawmul Arafah. The plains surrounding the hills of Arafat are now vibrant and resonating with the sweet echoes of 'Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik, Labbaika La Sharika Laka Labbaik, Innal Hamda Wan Ni'mata Laka Wal Mulk, La Sharika Lak' (Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Indeed, all praise, grace, and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner).

The powerful recitation of the Talbiyah continuously proclaims the oneness and greatness of Almighty Allah.

This holy Hajj is a grand congregation of the world's Muslims. From this morning, the vast desert plains of Arafat in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, have been filled with an extraordinary, sacred purity.

The presence of pilgrims, adorned in two pieces of pristine white Ihram cloth, creates a seamless expanse of white. Devout Muslims are performing this sacred Hajj, one of the main pillars of Islam, with an ardent desire for forgiveness and self-purification.

More than 2.5 million Muslims from around the world are gathering today, after Fajr prayers, in the historic plain of Arafat. Among them, the number of Bangladeshi pilgrims exceeds 87,000. Today, on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the main day of Hajj, they will remain here until sunset.

This year, the Hajj sermon will be delivered before the Dhuhr prayer at Masjid al-Namirah in Arafat by the renowned Khatib of Masjid al-Haram and member of the Saudi Senior Scholars Council, Dr. Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid.

Pilgrims will spend their time in devotion, engaging in the remembrance of Allah (Dhikr) until sunset. Afterwards, they will depart from Arafat for Muzdalifah.

In Muzdalifah, they will pray Maghrib and Isha together during the time of Isha and will stay overnight. From there, they will collect 70 pebbles for throwing at the Jamarat in Mina. After performing Fajr prayer in Muzdalifah, they will set off again for Mina.

Upon reaching Mina on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims sequentially complete four rituals. First, with Mina on their right, they will stand and throw stones at the devil (Jamarat).

The second ritual is sacrificing an animal for the sake of Allah. Many who cannot perform the sacrifice in Mina return to Mecca to do so. The third stage involves shaving their heads.

The fourth ritual is Tawaf al-Ziyarah. On the 11th of Dhul Hijjah, after spending the night in Mina, pilgrims will throw seven pebbles at each of the large, medium, and small devils between midday and just before sunset. This act is considered Sunnah.

On the 12th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims will remain in Mina and similarly throw stones at the three devils again. Once the stoning of the devil is complete, many will leave Mina for Mecca before sunset.

Upon reaching Mecca, one final ritual remains for the pilgrims: circumambulating the Kaaba Sharif. This is called the Farewell Tawaf. Excluding locals, pilgrims complete their sacred Hajj pilgrimage by performing the Farewell Tawaf, which involves circumambulating the Kaaba Sharif seven more times.

Yesterday, the average temperature recorded in Saudi Arabia was 44 degrees Celsius. The intense sun and extreme heat have caused distress to the pilgrims, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Saudi Arabian authorities prevented 269,000 pilgrims from entering the holy city of Mecca due to a lack of necessary permits. These pilgrims had traveled to Saudi Arabia to perform the sacred Hajj.

As in previous years, the holy Hajj sermon will be translated into multiple languages, including Bengali. Four Bangladeshis will undertake the Bengali translation: Dr. Khalilur Rahman, A. F. M. Wahidur Rahman, Mubinur Rahman, and Nazmus Sakib. All of them have studied at Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca.

The leader of the monitoring team for Bangladeshi Hajj management, Religious Advisor Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, and Religious Secretary A. K. M. Aftab Hossain Pramanik are also currently in Mina.

Dr. Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid, the renowned Khatib of Masjid al-Haram and member of the Saudi Senior Scholars Council, will deliver the sermon in the sacred plain of Arafat. The Interim Government's Religious Affairs Advisor, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, paid a courtesy visit to him.
