Brazil stumbled in their first match in the Copa America. Despite dominating the entire match, the five-time world champions could not find the desired goal.

The Selecao held a goalless draw against Costa Rica at the SoFi Stadium in the United States on Tuesday (June 25). Through this, they broke the record of 64 years of consecutive victories against Costa Rica. The last time Brazil lost 3-0 against Costa Rica in the Pan American Championship was on March 10, 1964. The two countries met 9 more times on the football stage, where Brazil showed absolute dominance.

From the beginning of the game, Brazil attacked by establishing possession of the ball. In the first half, Rodrigo-Vinicius couldn't score despite keeping 75 percent of the ball at their feet.

Brazil sent the ball into the net in the 30th minute of the match. Marquinhos scored the goal from Rodrigo's pass. It was ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR check.

In the 40th minute of the match, Paqueta was the victim of a foul by Vargas in the Dbox of Costa Rica. The referee did not respond to the appeal for a penalty.

Selecao continued to play in the same style in the second half. Arana's attempt in the 63rd minute of the match was blocked by the Costa Rican goalkeeper with great skill.

Coach Dorival Jr brought on young sensations Hendrick and Savio in the 70th minute to get a result in the game. But with Costa Rica's disciplined defense and failure of the Selecao strikers, Brazil had to collect one point.

In this draw, Brazil is second in Group D with 1 point. Colombia top on the table after winning their first match.
