Brazil is enduring its worst-ever run in World Cup qualifying history. After four consecutive defeats, the Seleção suffered another setback, losing both home and away matches against their biggest rivals, Argentina, for the first time in history. In response, the Brazilian Football Federation has dismissed head coach Dorival Júnior.
Currently sidelined due to injury, Neymar Jr. has now spoken about the disappointing defeat. Attending the Paulista Championship awards ceremony, he shared his thoughts on the match.
"I watched the game and spoke with some of the players about the loss. It’s painful, isn’t it? We all know that losing like this is never ideal. But at the end of the day, bad days happen to everyone. That’s part of football. Unfortunately, our team is going through one of those tough moments," Neymar said.
He also stressed the importance of greater commitment from his teammates. "Every player’s dedication is evident. They are all willing to give their best, and that’s what we need now more than ever."
As Brazil looks for a new coach, speculation is mounting. Given Neymar’s status as a key figure in Brazilian football, many assumed he would have a say in the appointment. However, he distanced himself from the decision.
"This isn’t my concern. Please don't involve me in this. I’m not part of it," Neymar stated.
Three candidates are reportedly in the running to replace Dorival Júnior: Carlo Ancelotti, Jorge Jesus, and Filipe Luís. While Ancelotti has been the most talked-about option, the Real Madrid coach has denied having any discussions with the Brazilian Federation. This has fueled speculation that Jorge Jesus may be the front-runner for the job.
