FC Barcelona moved four points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid as Robert Lewandowski's goal was enough to edge past Alaves.
A floated cross from Pedri found Raphinha, whose shot was deflected toward Lewandowski, who quickly reacted to slot the ball home at the near post in the 60th minute.
Earlier, Alaves goalkeeper Jesus Owono made an incredible diving save to deny Lamine Yamal's shot from the edge of the box. Yamal then set up Fermin Lopez with a cross to the back post, but Lopez failed to connect with the ball as Barcelona couldn't add to their lead.
This victory extended Barca's unbeaten run against Alaves to 15 league matches, with 13 wins and two draws. Hansi Flick's team remains third, three points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid, who had been leading the table, suffered a surprising 1-0 loss to Espanyol on Saturday, allowing Barcelona to seize the opportunity to reduce the points gap.
