The deep depression originating over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent West Bengal coast advanced west-northwestward, crossing the West Bengal-North Odisha shoreline around 6 am on Tuesday.

According to a bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the atmospheric system is currently positioned over northern Odisha and the adjoining Gangetic West Bengal coast.

Forecasters anticipate the weather formation will continue moving in a west-northwestward trajectory while progressively losing intensity.

BMD Forecasts Nation Wide Rain and Thundershowers over Next 24 Hours

A steep pressure gradient remains active across the North Bay and surrounding regions, creating conditions conducive to squally weather that could impact maritime ports, the North Bay and nearby coastal zones of Bangladesh.

In response to the turbulent weather conditions, the sea ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been instructed to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted.

Additionally, maritime authorities have cautioned all fishing boats and motor trawlers operating in the North Bay to stay close to the coastline and navigate with extreme vigilance until further notice.
