State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said, BNP’s Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman gave up his citizenship by surrendering Bangladeshi passport and accepted British citizenship.
While discussing in the budget session in the parliament on Sunday he made this challenge.
Shahriar Alam said, there is enough evidence that Tarique Rahman has given up his Bangladeshi citizenship. Recently his name was mentioned in a British company where his citizenship was declared as ‘British’. But after four months it was changed and mentioned as ‘Bangladeshi’. Some organizations including Wikileaks published it.
He said, when I told that Tarique Rahman gave up Bangladeshi citizenship then BNP issued legal notice against me. I accepted their challenge and proved that truly Tarique Rahman is no more Bangladeshi citizen. He surrendered his passport and gave up citizenship. He may have British passport also.
Shahriar Alam said, expatriates are being misguided by BNP through showing an edited video of the Finance Minister which said that the minister imposed more tax on expatriate’s income. That video is a fake one.
