77th 'Cannes Film Festival' curtain opens today

Every year in the southern coastal city of France, the most prestigious event in the world of film 'Cannes Film Festival' unfurls its red carpet once again. In that continuity, the curtain rises on the 77th edition of the Cannes Festival 2024 on Tuesday (May 14). It is one of the biggest film festivals in the showbiz world.
The event will be held in THE GRAND THÉÂTRE LUMIÈRE of the Palais des Festival building in France. On this occasion, the world's biggest film stars are gathering in Cannes.
Every year a selected number of films are screened at this festival. This year, eight Indian films will grace the festival's lineup, representing a diverse array of narratives and genres. The films are– 'All We Imagine As Light'. The movie is based on the life of a nurse in Mumbai.
British-Indian movie 'Santosh' will be screened this year. The movie tells the story of a woman who gets a police job in place of her dead husband. And because of this job, he got involved in the investigation of the rape and murder of a young girl. The story of the movie is mainly based on Santosh's life.
'Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know' has also been nominated to be screened at Cannes. This 16-minute short story tells the life story of an elderly woman.
Apart from this 'In Retreat', 'The Shameless', 'Sister Midnight', 'Manthan: A Cinematic Gem Reborn', 'Kooki to be screened. Bollywood actors Aishwarya Rai and Aditi Rao Hydari are all set to jet off to this year's edition of Cannes and represent India. They will join the festival as ambassadors of L'Oréal Paris and are expected to highlight the growing influence of Indian cinema around the world.
This year's theme is 'Many Ways To Be An Icon', which revolves around confidence and self-empowerment. Additionally, the "Made in Heaven" famed actress Sobhita Dhulipala will also be walking on the red carpet, representing an ice cream brand. Music icon King is also expected to walk the red carpet.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan made it to the Hurun India Rich list for the first time with a net value of Rs 7,300 crore. Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Karan Johar also feature on it.

Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar are at the fourth and fifth positions on the list. Their assets are Rs 1600 crore and Rs 1400 crore respectively.
