Killing of MP Anar: Bones recovered from canal

CID of Kolkata recovered some bones from the Bagjola Canal in the area adjacent to the Krishnamati Bridge in Kolkata after conducting an investigation into the murder of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar. DMG team of police and navy was with this investigation.. However, it is not certain whether the bones belong to MP Anar or not.

The operation was carried out on Sunday (June 9) morning.

Barasat court in Kolkata remanded Siam for 14 days on Saturday (June 8). Then on Sunday morning, police raided various places in Kolkata with him.

On this day, CID investigators along with Kolkata Police Disaster Response Team (DMG) and Indian Navy came to Krishnamati Bagjola Canal area under Bijaygarh Bazar Police Station. After identifying the area, divers were lowered and the bones were recovered. Officials of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) have already reached the spot after receiving this news.

It has been confirmed by the CID that several bones of different sizes have been recovered during the operation in the Bagjola canal. which are believed to be human bones.

Two Bangladeshis have already been arrested from West Bengal in connection with the murder of the MP. One of them is Siam and the other is Jihad Hawladar. Before this, CID investigative officers raided the canal several times along with Jihad. At one point naval personnel, divers, and nets were launched to search, but without significant success.

It is known that Siam spoke about a different place from where Hawa Jihad was arrested earlier. The search was conducted at that place. Siam claims, these are the bones of Bangladesh MP Anar's body.

CID arrested Siam from Bongaon area of ​​North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal bordering Bangladesh on Friday (June 7).

The accused has been booked under four non-bailable sections – 364 (kidnapping with intent to murder), 302 (culpable homicide), 201 (tampering with evidence) and 34 (committing criminal activity by association) – of the Indian Penal Code.

It is to be noted that on May 12, MP Anar went to India from Kaliganj in Jhenaidah to  Darshana Gede in Chuadanga for treatment. Went to the house of a friend named Gopal Biswas on Mandalpara Lane of Baranagar police station in West Bengal. The next day he left the house saying to see the doctor. Since then, Anwarul Azim has been mysteriously missing.
