There is no security threat around holy Eid-ul-Adha, said the Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Barrister Md. Harun Ar Rashid. However, he also said that there is enough preparation and capacity to deal with any situation.

RAB DG said this while talking to reporters after observing the security arrangements at the National Eidgah Maidan on Sunday (June 16) morning.

Intelligence surveillance has been increased by RAB during the Eid congregation, he said that the biggest congregation will be held at the National Eidgah in Dhaka on the day of Eid. Apart from this, large congregations will be held in Sholakia, Rangpur and Dinajpur. Surveillance has been strengthened with adequate security measures in these Eid congregations. Security monitoring will be done by setting up a control room from the RAB headquarters.

RAB DG said that by analyzing intelligence information and cyber monitoring and other information, no specific information was found regarding any terrorist attack ahead of this Eid. However, our intelligence surveillance and activity will continue for long duration.

Harun Ar Rashid said, animal markets gathered all over the country, including the capital, around the holy Eid-ul-Adha. RAB has been keeping a constant vigil to prevent hat-centric malam party, oggan party. Adequate force has been deployed at the markets, devices are in place to detect fake currency. RAB members are deployed at every bus terminal, launch ghat, train station. RAB has arrested a group of 10 people associated with black ticket market.
