PM returns from Beijing tonight to be with ailing daughter
Sheikh Hasina is now in Beijing at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He was scheduled to leave for home on Thursday after a four-day visit. But the Prime Minister is leaving Beijing to attend to her ailing daughter, Saima Wazed.
Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud said this while replying to a question from reporters in Beijing on Wednesday (July 10).
Hasan Mahmud said, 'The Prime Minister was scheduled to return home on July 11. Instead, the prime minister will leave Beijing for Bangladesh at 10 pm local time tonight. But his official program did not change in the slightest.'
The foreign minister said her daughter and World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director Saima Wazed Putul was also scheduled to visit Beijing as part of the prime minister's entourage. However, she was unable to travel to Beijing due to illness.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said the Prime Minister is leaving Beijing instead of spending the night to give time to her sick daughter.
