The rising prices of daily commodities left the public unsatisfied. Despite adequate supply, syndicates have cornered the market due to lack of supervision. After going to market, pockets are about to empty as the bottom of the bag fills. Which has an impact on the nutrition of the middle class.

Starting from rice and pulses, the price of every product is increasing. Fish and meat market is already high; On top of that, another round of price increases for eggs and broiler chickens. Since Eid ul-Adha, the recalcitrant vegetable market caught fire again. In the span of a week, the market of daily commodities has become unbridled. Along with transport costs and rain, traders have found the anti-quota movement as a new excuse.

On Friday (July 12), it was reported that the price of all kinds of rice per bag has increased in various markets of the capital. Of this, the price of coarse rice has increased by Tk 4 per kg. BR-28 rice which was sold at Tk 56 last week, today it is selling at Tk 60. Besides, per kg miniket was seen to be sold at Tk 70 to Tk 72, Nazirshail Tk 70 to Tk 75 and Basmati at Tk 90-95. Retailers say there is nothing they can do. They have to buy all kinds of rice from Godown by paying Tk 200-330 more per bag. They are bound to sell at the same price as they are buying.

After hovering at Tk 170-180 for three weeks, the price of broiler chicken has again jumped to 200 taka. Traders say that the price of chicken has increased due to continuous rains for several days. But the buyers claim that the traders are increasing the price as they want because the buyers are leaving the other meat in the market and are leaning towards the common broiler chicken.
