The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, H.E. Ms. Irma van Dueren, made her inaugural courtesy visit to the Foreign Affairs Adviser, Md. Touhid Hossain, at his office this morning. During the meeting, both parties recognized the strong bilateral ties between Bangladesh and the Netherlands, highlighting a recent high-level meeting between their leaders at the 79th UNGA in New York.

The discussion centered around deepening cooperation in areas such as water management, climate change, renewable energy, agriculture, and maritime sectors, given the similarities in both countries' deltaic landscapes. Mr. Hossain emphasized the Netherlands' significance to Bangladesh as a key trade partner and top source of foreign direct investment.

The Adviser also thanked the Dutch government for its ongoing support to the Rohingya refugees and reiterated that their safe return to Myanmar remains the only viable solution to the crisis. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening ties, particularly in sustainable development and economic collaboration.
