National Level Contributors Must be Acknowledged: Rizvi
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said that it was not right to take down the photo of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Bangabhaban. Those who have contributed at the national level must be acknowledged.
He stated this on Tuesday (November 12) morning while participating in the free medical camp and blood donation program on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day at the BNP central office in the capital's Naya Paltan area.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, "History and people will decide if someone commits a crime. BNP is not a narrow-minded party like Awami League. It was not right to take down the photo of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Bangabhaban. Khandaker Mushtaque Ahmed also took down Bangabandhu's picture, but Ziaur Rahman hung it again."
Depicting the misrule of the Awami League government, he said, "Despite being a good doctor, there was discrimination during Sheikh Hasina's regime. Many doctors were not promoted due to their attachment to BNP. They have been deprived for political reasons. They have worked in the same post for 15 to 16 years."
Rizvi said that many students were shot dead during the anti-discrimination student movement. Doctors stayed awake night after night, treated and performed autopsy. We went around the hospital to see them. How many of you (advisor and secretary) went to the hospital? Today you are arrogant and don't want to talk. We recognize who you are. You are Sheikh Hasina's friend. Becoming Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Advisor today by raising various confusions.
He also said that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established Bakshal after independence. All parties have been banned, democracy has been killed by his hands. Before this, in the '60s, he did the freedom movement. People believed him and voted for him. But he could not keep his promise. He has a role in our Independence movement. But he had no role in the war of independence. The War of Independence was declared by an indomitable soldier, Ziaur Rahman.
Rizvi said, "The country became independent, Awami League came to power. We saw them killed by hand, murdered and disappeared. If former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had done less torture, she would not have had to flee."
