Not only the massacre that took place during the anti-discrimination student movement in July-August but also all the crimes that have been committed in the past 15 years to be prosecuted, said Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government.

He stated this in his address to the nation on Sunday (November 17) at 7 pm on the occasion of the 100-day completion of the interim government.

Respectfully remembering the martyrs and injured in the July-August movement against fascism, the chief adviser said, not only the July-August murders, but we will prosecute all the misdeeds in the last 15 years. Many people have disappeared, murdered during this time.

He said, "We have formed a commission to investigate the disappearance. The head of the commission told me they had received 1,600 missing persons reports as of October. They believe this number will exceed 3,500."

Urging to complain to the Commission regarding the disappearance, Muhammad Yunus said, "Many people are afraid to report the disappearance to the commission, thinking that they may be attacked and harmed again by the accused persons. I want to assure you that you can report your complaint to the commission without hesitation."

He said, "The details of the victims that we have received from the members of the Disappearance Commission are very shocking. After the July-August revolution, students wrote their thoughts on the walls of the city. Those who have gone missing before them, have written on the walls. Our hearts are shaken by hearing about their sufferings. We will bring those involved in this to justice.

The chief adviser said that no matter how powerful the accused, the force has no chance of letting him off the hook. Not only in the country, we have also taken the initiative to prosecute those involved in the disappearances, murders, and July-August massacre in the international court. I have already spoken to Karim Khan, chief strategist of the International Criminal Court.

He also said that we have signed the International Anti-Disappearance Charter so that no member of the law-enforcement forces or anyone else can be involved in any such crime including murder, or disappearance.

Dr. Yunus said that the United Nations is also with the government in the July-August murder trial. Yunus said, United Nations High Commissioner for International Human Rights Volker Turk recently visited Bangladesh. The United Nations extended its cooperation to the investigation of the July-August killings. They have promised to hand over their report to us in the first week of December itself. We are also in regular contact with them in the investigation of past disappearances. They have offered to increase their manpower in Dhaka to help protect human rights. We accepted that offer.
