Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, stated the tentative timeline for the national election, mentioning that the government is working on reforms and election arrangements. If everything proceeds as planned, the next national parliamentary election will be held by June 30, 2026.

On Tuesday (December 17) evening, he shared this information with journalists at the capital's Foreign Service Academy.

During the briefing, Shafiqul Alam questioned, "What clearer roadmap can there be than the announcement made by Chief Advisor Dr Muhammad Yunus regarding the elections?"

He further elaborated that curriculum rationalization will be done for grades nine and ten. The term "Commission" will be removed from the University Grants Commission to make it more relevant to modern times. Technical and vocational education will be updated, and private school and college teachers will receive training. The government has planned initiatives to address these areas.

The Press Secretary highlighted that information technology at school and college levels has not been updated significantly. Efforts are underway to modernize these areas further.

The government aims to establish a quality education system so that Bangladeshi students can compete with students from any country in the world. To achieve this, he added, the education budget will be increased.

Shafiqul Alam stated that corruption, including bribery, in the education sector has been identified to a large extent, and measures will be taken to eliminate it. While no education commission has been formed, the government is working on areas where rapid changes can be made quickly.
