Ban on foreigners visit in Bandarban for election

The district Returning Officer issued ban on foreigners visit in Bandarban from December 20 to January 6 centering the upcoming general election.

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer of Bandarban Daudul Islam delivered the information in the meeting over electoral law and order on Sunday.

Police Super Jakir Hossain Majumder, Additional Deputy Commissioner Abul Kalam and District Election Officer Rezaul Karim among others were present in the meeting.

Returning Officer Daudul Islam said, the local administration has to take additional cautionary measures during foreign citizens’ visit in Bandarban. But it becomes hard in the time of election. For this reason no foreign citizen will be allowed to visit Bandarban for 17 days. So from December 20 to January 6 the visit of foreign nationals will be off in Bandarban.

On the other hand District Election Officer Rezaul Karim said, 176 voting centers were fixed in seven upazilas of the district. In these centers 176 Presiding Officers, 605 Assistant Presiding Officers and 1210 Polling Officers will perform their duties. Besides helicopter will be used to bring the electoral materials and officers in 14 remote centers of the district.

Mentionable, in Bandarban 300 number constituency Awami League’s Bir Bahadur Usheysing, BNP’s Saching Prujery and Islami Andolon’s Mufti Shawkatul are running for the eleventh national parliament election.
