Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been elected as the leader of parliament for the third consecutive term.
She was elected the leader of parliament unanimously at the Awami League parliamentary party meeting on Thursday (January 3).
The Awami League Members of Parliament led by party President Sheikh Hasina took oath after 11 am. Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury administered the oath.
After the oath taking the meeting of Awami League parliamentary party took place at 12:30 pm at the meeting room of the ruling party in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
In the meeting party General Secretary Obaidul Quader recommended the name of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina as the leader of parliament. Awami League advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu extended his support to the proposal.
The presented Members of Parliament unanimously elected Sheikh Hasina as the leader of the parliament and President of Awami League parliamentary party.
