Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed grave concern over the incident of burning a female student named Nushrat Jahan by pouring kerosene on her in an examination center of a madrasa at Sonagazi in Feni district. As well as she has declared of taking overall responsibility of the student.
The information came through Coordinator of Sheikh Hasina Natioal Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Dr. Samantalal Sen. He went to meet the Prime Minister at Ganabhaban on Sunday afternoon. At that time the premier expressed her concern about the matter.
Later Dr. Samantalal Sen told the newsmen, the Prime Minister has taken overall responsibility of the female student. She has asked to take overall steps including her treatment.
He said, the Prime Minister has ordered the concerned to arrest the involved in connection with the incident. We are continuing the girl’s treatment. Her condition is still critical.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) has formed an eight-member medical board headed by Professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad to provide treatment for the student. Nushrat Jahan is currently admitted at Burn Unit’s ICU of DMCH.
Dr. Azad said, the board members observed the patient two times. Her condition is critical. From throat to the body, hands, legs all were burnt. Her respiratory system was also burnt. If her condition turns stable then decision for operation will be taken within one or two days.
