Speaking to the Japanese broadcaster NHK in Dhaka on Wednesday (February 6), Dr Yunus shared insights into his government's plans for national reconstruction. The Nobel Peace Prize-winning economist emphasized his vision of a stable and stronger Bangladesh.

Reflecting on the challenges his administration faced upon taking office, he remarked, "We inherited a society in ruins—an economy in collapse, a dysfunctional political system, and a judiciary in disarray. Given this backdrop, I believe we have made significant progress."

Dr Yunus underscored the importance of elections in a democratic system, suggesting that the most feasible time for the polls would be towards the end of the year.

"When the election takes place, the incoming government will have a stable and solid foundation to build upon," he stated.

He also highlighted the crucial role of Bangladesh's youth in shaping the country's future. Referring to their active participation in last year's movement, he said, "The young generation wants to channel their creative energy and share it with the world. That is our dream, and we will work towards making it a reality."
