The government has launched a nationwide crackdown, codenamed "Operation Devil Hunt," to apprehend those responsible for recent criminal activities and maintain law and order. This operation, which began today, follows a terror attack in Gazipur on Friday night that targeted students and civilians.
A joint meeting of law enforcement agencies convened on Friday night to coordinate the operation. According to the Home Ministry, the crackdown will begin in Gazipur and spread across the country.
The attack in Gazipur left several people critically injured. The perpetrators, identified as terrorists associated with the fallen fascist group, have sparked widespread outrage.
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Adviser, expressed firm resolve this morning during a visit to the injured students at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). He vowed to take severe action against those responsible for the attack on the student group in Gazipur.
"Everyone involved in this heinous act will be held accountable. Legal action will be taken, and all individuals responsible will face justice," he said. The Home Adviser also stressed that efforts would be made to ensure the harshest penalties for the attackers.
The assault on the students took place at the Gazipur residence of AKM Mozammel Haque, a former Liberation War affairs minister and Awami League leader.
