Two individuals were killed in an alleged gunfight with members of the joint forces in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The operation also led to the arrest of five others. However, the identities of the deceased remain unknown.
The incident took place around 1 AM on Wednesday (February 20) in the Basila 40-Feet area of Mohammadpur.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Momin, the duty officer of Mohammadpur Police Station, confirmed the incident.
He stated that two individuals were killed in the gunfight with the joint forces, and five others were arrested during the operation.
According to police sources, authorities received information on Wednesday night that several top criminals were holding a meeting at Lautola in Chand Udyan, Mohammadpur. Acting on this tip-off, a team from the joint forces conducted a raid in the area.
As the operation began, the criminals suddenly opened fire on the joint forces, prompting them to retaliate. The gunfight lasted for two to three minutes before five of the criminals shouted that they wanted to surrender. Subsequently, they surrendered to the joint forces.
At the end of the exchange, two individuals were found dead with gunshot wounds.
