"You are the 'living history.' I express my deepest gratitude to you," he said while addressing a gathering of families of the uprising victims at the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) in Tejgaon.

Emphasizing the importance of remembering history, Professor Yunus stated, "A nation that forgets its history cannot prosper. The sacrifices made during this struggle have given us the courage to envision a new Bangladesh and their value cannot be measured by any standard."

He assured the victims' families that from today, they are officially recognized as part of the government. "This is an institutional acknowledgement of your contributions. Beyond this, society as a whole must also accept responsibility for you," he added.

On the issue of justice, the Chief Adviser reaffirmed the commitment to holding accountable those responsible for killings and enforced disappearances. However, he cautioned against rushed trials, stating, "Justice must be fair and impartial. If we act unjustly, we become no different from those we oppose."

"We will not allow injustice. Those who are guilty will be handed over to the police, while those who are not criminals will be guided toward becoming good citizens," he assured.

Together, we will create a beautiful and just nation. Criminals will be tried, and those who are not will be steered in the right direction."

He also urged the families of the martyrs and freedom fighters to remain vigilant to prevent violence and unrest.

The meeting was attended by Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam, Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam, and Special Assistant (State Minister) Professor Dr Md Sayedur Rahman.

During the discussion, members of three martyrs' families and three surviving fighters raised concerns, including demands for justice, state honours, financial assistance, and rehabilitation.
