Bangladesh's Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that rapists will have no place in the country, affirming the government's commitment to a 'zero tolerance' policy on rape.
He made this declaration after a meeting of the law and order core committee at the Ministry of Law and Justice on Sunday, March 9.
The Home Affairs Adviser confirmed that all the accused in the Magura incident have been arrested, and the government will work to ensure they receive the maximum punishment through legal proceedings.
He further stated that any instances of violence against women or rape, anywhere in the country, will be addressed through the law, ensuring the harshest possible punishment without any leniency.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury reiterated the government's firm stance against rape and all forms of abuse against women and children, instructing law enforcement agencies to take a strong position against such crimes.
He also emphasized the need to build social movements and awareness alongside legal actions to combat rape and child abuse.
Regarding the banned group Hizb ut-Tahrir, the Home Affairs Adviser made it clear that no banned organization will be allowed to engage in political activities, with law enforcement agencies remaining vigilant on this matter.
