Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus emphasized that police officers are on the frontlines and a country cannot be built by ignoring them.
He made these remarks during a meeting with field-level police officers at his office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Monday, March 17.
Dr Yunus stated that if law enforcement is properly implemented and discipline is maintained, victory in all challenges will be possible. Without law, there will be no government, democracy, or citizen rights.
He further added that without a stable law and order situation, no development plans will succeed. Police officers must play a key role in the creation of a new Bangladesh.
Dr Yunus pointed out that while police once fell victim to bad elements, now they must contribute to building a brighter Bangladesh.
He also warned that as the election approaches, conspiracies will become more intense. As a result, the police must remain vigilant. "We are in a state of war, and police must carry out their duties with this in mind. During this time, conspirators will try to disrupt peace."
The Chief Advisor also remarked that Bangladesh has immense potential, though it has not yet been fully realized. However, the July movement has created a new opportunity to reshape the country. We must not let this potential slip away.
Other speakers at the meeting included Home Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam.
Field-level officers who spoke included DIG of Chittagong Range Ahsan Habib Palash and Rajshahi Superintendent of Police Farzana Islam.
