A moderate earthquake was felt across multiple regions of Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Rajshahi, causing temporary panic among residents.
However, no immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received.
The tremor occurred on Friday (March 28) at around 12:15 pm in different regions.
According to Md Rubaiyat Kabir, the acting officer at the Meteorological Department's Earthquake Observation and Research Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was in Mandalay, Myanmar, approximately 597 kilometers from Dhaka. A magnitude of 7.3 is considered significant.
Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake as having a magnitude of 7.7, with its epicenter located 16 kilometers north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar. The tremor originated at a depth of 10 kilometers.
