Sheikh Bashir Uddin, who currently serves as the Advisor to the Ministries of Commerce and Textiles & Jute, has been given additional responsibility for the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.
The Cabinet Division issued an official notification on Tuesday confirming the appointment. According to the notification, Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, has reassigned responsibilities among advisors. Sheikh Bashir Uddin will now oversee three ministries: Commerce, Textiles & Jute, and Civil Aviation & Tourism.
Previously, the late AF Hassan Ariff had been in charge of the Ministry of Land and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism until his passing on December 20. Since then, the aviation and tourism portfolio has been under the direct supervision of Dr Yunus.
Following this latest appointment, Dr Yunus now retains five key portfolios:
- Cabinet Division
- Ministry of Defense
- Armed Forces Division
- Ministry of Public Administration
- Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology
