Youth Questioned for Throwing Bottle at Adviser Mahfuz Alam

A young man has been taken to the Detective Branch (DB) office for questioning after allegedly throwing a water bottle at Mahfuz Alam, Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in Dhaka's Kakrail area.

The incident was confirmed by Mohammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of the DMP's Media Division, on Friday afternoon.

He said, "The individual who threw the water bottle at the Information Adviser has been brought in for questioning. After the interrogation, he will be handed over to his guardian."

The incident occurred on the night of May 14 when Mahfuz Alam went to speak with protesting students of Jagannath University in front of the Kakrail Mosque. During the exchange, a plastic water bottle was thrown in his direction.

Following the incident, police reviewed video footage and identified the suspect as a first-year student of Jagannath University. A manhunt was launched to locate him.

Md Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner of the Ramna Division, stated on Thursday that the student has been identified as Ishtiaq Hossain and that multiple police units are working to track him down.
