Malaysia has decided to recruit one to one and a half lakh (100,000 to 150,000) foreign workers. Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Advisor Asif Nazrul has stated that Bangladesh will be given the highest priority in this regard.
He conveyed this information in a video message posted on Facebook on Thursday afternoon (May 15th).
Asif Nazrul, who is currently visiting Malaysia, said that Malaysia will recruit 100,000 to 150,000 foreign workers within the next few months. Bangladesh will be given the highest priority there.
He mentioned that meetings have been held with three Malaysian ministers. He stated that he proposed arrangements be made so that all the recruiting agencies in Bangladesh can send workers. They have said they will consider the matter.
Furthermore, it has been informed that the issue of Bangladeshi workers receiving multiple entry visas, similar to workers from other countries, will be implemented soon.
In the video message, the Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Advisor also said that the Prime Minister of Malaysia visited Bangladesh last year.
At that time, he promised to create opportunities for those workers from Bangladesh who could not go to Malaysia. We discussed this matter in the recent meeting.
They informed us that workers will be taken in batches. The list of the first batch of 7,926 people has been finalized. They will be given the opportunity to work very soon.
Besides this, a proposal has been made to regularize irregular workers, Asif Nazrul added.
In this case, they stated that it is not possible for those whose visas have expired. At that point, we said that this often happens due to the negligence of the employers.
As a result, the Malaysian government has assured that they will work to resolve this issue as well.
