Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, announced that the upcoming general election will not extend beyond June 30, 2026. This timeframe has been met with satisfaction by leaders of various political parties.

Alam made the remarks during a briefing on Sunday night, May 25, 2025, following a meeting between the Chief Adviser and political party representatives.

According to the Press Secretary, political leaders expressed their full support for Professor Yunus's ongoing reforms, the judicial processes that have commenced, and the preparations for the election.

"Many issues were discussed, including the election and reforms," Alam said, noting that everyone present expressed satisfaction. "The Chief Adviser reiterated that the election will be held between December [2025] and June [2026]. It will not go beyond June 30, 2026."
