Mahiya Mahi vows to fight till end
Actor Mahiya Mahi who is an independent candidate for Rajshahi-1 constituency, has declared her commitment to remain in the electoral race until the end.
"There is no possibility of me stepping back from the election field. As long as I am alive, InshaAllah, I will fight till the end," she made these remarks when she appeared in person at the Rajshahi District Joint and Sessions Judge Court to explain a notice for violating the electoral code of conduct on Sunday (Dec 17).
After an hour-long hearing, Mahi told the journalists: "Since I am from the film industry I was confused about the electoral code of conduct. I met voters and asked for their blessings before the allotment of symbols, which broke these rules. So, I asked the court to forgive me."
"The court did forgive me but also gave me a strict warning not to repeat this," she added.
In response to a question, Mahi said: "The election atmosphere is good so far. After the allocation of symbols tomorrow (Monday), I will fully enter the election field. If I do not die and stay alive, I will continue to fight in the elections until the end. So far, no one has threatened me. My workers have not faced any obstacles. If anything like this happens, I will inform you (the journalists)."
Earlier, Mahiya Mahi was summoned to appear in person to explain the notice issued by the Election Inquiry Committee for violating the electoral code of conduct.
