The new price of 12kg LPG now stands at Tk 1,433. The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the hike on Tuesday (Jan 2).
The new price will be in effect from 6:00 pm today.
Earlier, on Dec 3, the price of LPG was increased at the consumer level for the fifth consecutive month. The price of a 12 kg cylinder was increased by Tk 23 to Tk 1,404 in December.
Subsequently, BERC also increased the price of autogas. In the month of December, the price of autogas at the consumer level was fixed at Tk 64.43 per litre.
In 2023, the prices of LPG and autogas decreased in January, March, April, June, and July and increased in February, May, August, September, October, November, and December.
Bangladesh has an annual LPG demand of nearly 14 lakh metric tonnes. The government produces 2% of the consumers’ demand, while the rest is met through imports by the private sector, according to State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid.
