Arsa commander arrested with weapons in Ukhiya

RAB-15 arrested Gun Group Commander of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) along with a G-3 rifle and five rounds of fresh bullets from Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.

The arrested Arsa Gun Group Commander Zakaria,(32) son of deceased Ali Johar, resident of Block F-17 of Rohingya Camp No. 10, Balukhali, Ukhiya.

RAB 15 captain Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain said the Intelligence Branch of Bangladesh Army's 10th Infantry Division and RAB intelligence sources had information that some members of the terrorist group Arsa have brought weapons from neighbouring countries to the Rohingya camp for sabotage in Camp No 10.

Based on this source, Zakaria was arrested. He was arrested along with weapons from Rohingya Camp No.10 in Ukhiya on Thursday (13 June) night.

Md Zakaria has been handed over to Ukhiya police station, and an arms case has been filed against him.

RAB's Senior Assistant Director (Media) Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Salam Chowdhury said that the current threat to the Rohingya camp is the Arsa terrorist group. Arsa and other terrorist groups existing in Rohingya camps are creating conflicts among themselves, killing, kidnapping, robbery, drugs, extortion, arson, etc.
