Sajjad, a top listed terrorist who fled after shooting at police in Chattogram, has been arrested by police in Dhaka.
He was arrested from the Bashundhara City Shopping Complex area of the capital on Saturday night (March 15).
This information was confirmed by DMP Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
The arrested Sajjad is the son of Md. Jamal of Hat Hazari's Shikarpur, adjacent to Bayezid Bostami Police Station.
It is learned that on July 17 last year, Chandgaon police arrested Sajjad with weapons. He came out on bail at the beginning of the following month. Later, on December 4 last year, when the police tried to arrest him in the Oxygen area of the city, he fled while firing shots.
Five people, including policemen, were injured in the incident. On January 29, Sajjad threatened to beat up Bayezid Bostami Police Station OC Arifur Rahman in a Facebook live. The next day, the city police commissioner announced a reward to catch Sajjad.
Regarding the arrest, DC Muhammad Talebur Rahman said, "Terrorist Sajjad targeted and shot at the police in Chattogram. After that, he fled to Dhaka. He was arrested by DMP's Tejgaon police from the Bashundhara City Shopping Complex area on Saturday."
Tejgaon Police Station OC Mobarak Hossain said, "Police personnel were present at the shopping mall. Sajjad was arrested and brought to the police station after receiving the information. After discussing with higher authorities, he will be sent to Chattogram."
