Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in Savar. Among the victims, two died, including a woman, after being hit by a speeding private car, while a bus helper was killed when a long-distance bus from Nabil Paribahan lost control and mounted a road divider. Highway police have seized both vehicles involved.
The first incident occurred early Monday morning at the Genda Bus Stand on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, where a Nabil Paribahan bus lost control and crashed into the road divider, killing the bus's helper, Anwarul Islam (26), on the spot.
In a separate incident late Sunday night, two pedestrians named Hriday Chandra Das (20) and Archana Rani (30) from Netrokona district were fatally struck by a fast-moving private car while crossing the road near the Bank Town area on the same highway. Both victims died instantly. Although the driver fled the scene, police managed to seize the vehicle.
According to Savar Highway Police sources, the Nabil Paribahan bus was traveling from Naogaon with passengers when the accident happened. Police recovered the bodies and impounded the bus and the private car.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Highway Police Station, Saugatul Alam, confirmed the fatalities. He said the families of the deceased have been informed, and legal action will follow based on their complaints.
