Bangladesh has gone one step ahead in the Rule of Law Index 2017-18 of the World Justice Project (WJP).
The index published on Wednesday was made on the basis of survey over 1 lakh 10 thousand families and more than three thousand experts of 113 countries of the world.
In this regard 44 variables were considered including limitations of government’s power, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, law and order, regular force, civil and criminal justice system.
In the index Bangladesh raked 102nd position of the 113 countries of the world. Though the position is 102nd but it ranked 24th position from the 30 lower middle income countries. In the index published in 2016 Bangladesh’s position was 103rd.
In the latest published index Denmark ranked first, Norway second and Finland third. Among the neighboring countries Nepal ranked 58th, Sri Lanka 59th, India 62nd, Myanmar 100th and Pakistan 105th.
UK and USA ranked 11th and 19th respectively after stepping behind one stage while Russia was ranked 89th position.
