Bangladesh goes one step ahead in Rule of Law Index

Bangladesh has gone one step ahead in the Rule of Law Index 2017-18 of the World Justice Project (WJP).

The index published on Wednesday was made on the basis of survey over 1 lakh 10 thousand families and more than three thousand experts of 113 countries of the world.

In this regard 44 variables were considered including limitations of government’s power, absence of corruption, open government, fundamental rights, law and order, regular force, civil and criminal justice system.

In the index Bangladesh raked 102^nd position of the 113 countries of the world. Though the position is 102^nd but it ranked 24^th position from the 30 lower middle income countries. In the index published in 2016 Bangladesh’s position was 103^rd.

In the latest published index Denmark ranked first, Norway second and Finland third. Among the neighboring countries Nepal ranked 58^th, Sri Lanka 59^th, India 62^nd, Myanmar 100^th and Pakistan 105^th.

UK and USA ranked 11^th and 19^th respectively after stepping behind one stage while Russia was ranked 89^th position.
