Police have submitted charge sheet against 24 people including Rifat’s wife Ayesha Siddika Minni in the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna. Investigation Officer Md. Humayun Kabir submitted the charge sheet to the court of Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi at around 4:30 pm on Sunday.
Barguna Police Super Md. Maruf Hossain confirmed the matter to the media through a press release.
The prime accused of Rifat murder case Nayan Bond’s name was excluded from the charge sheet as he was killed in a gunfight on July 2. Police were not agreed to deliver information about the accused mentioned in the charge sheet.
Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in front of Barguna Government College in broad day light at around 10:30 am on June 26. Video of the incident went viral on social media and created huge reaction among people.
In this connection Rifat’s father Abdul Halim Sharif filed a case on June 27 mentioning 12 names. There Ayesha Siddika Minni was made prime witness. But after 18 days Abdul Halim at a press conference alleged that Minni was involved in the murder and the incident turned into a new dimension. Later Minni was arrested in connection with the case.
Police said, in this case all the arrested accused gave confessional statement under section 164 before the court.
Earlier, on August 29 the High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman granted conditional bail for Minni.
