According to the final calculations for the 2023-24 fiscal year, the per capita income of the country has decreased by $46, as reported by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The report states that Bangladesh's per capita income has now dropped to $2,738. This is a reduction from the provisional estimate, which had placed per capita income at $2,784.
In addition to the decline in US dollar terms, per capita income has also decreased in local currency. The provisional estimate had projected it at 306,144 BDT.
According to BBS, the country's average per capita income has been declining for the past three years. However, in the 2021-22 fiscal year, per capita income reached $2,793, marking the highest recorded level so far.
