Saira Banu, the wife of India's Oscar-winning musician A. R. Rahman, has finally spoken to the media about their relationship. Expressing anger, Saira stated that she is not an "ex-wife."
A. R. Rahman returned home from the hospital on Sunday after receiving necessary treatment. Family members are currently taking care of the ailing artist. During this time, "ex-wife" Saira Banu expressed her anger to the media.
According to a report by the Indian news outlet Hindustan Times, Saira expressed her anger by sending an audio message to the media. In it, she stated that she and A. R. Rahman are not officially divorced yet. Expressing her anger, she also requested the media not to address her as the "ex-wife."
Saira said, "Since we are not officially divorced, we are still husband and wife. We have been living separately for the past two years due to health issues. During this time, I did not want to put any mental pressure on him (A. R. Rahman). So, I request you not to increase his mental pressure by calling me the 'ex-wife'."
Addressing family members, Saira said, "I request everyone, including family members, not to put any mental pressure on him and to take care of him."
On Sunday (March 16th) at around 7:30 AM, the singer was quickly admitted to Apollo Hospital on Greams Road in Chennai after suddenly experiencing neck and chest pain. There, all necessary initial tests, including an angiogram, were performed on the artist. After keeping him under close observation for a while, the doctors sent him home.
It is known that A. R. Rahman recently returned home from a music tour abroad. He was fasting due to Ramadan. Due to the long journey and fasting, the artist suddenly fell ill due to dehydration.
It is worth noting that Saira Banu and A. R. Rahman suddenly announced on social media last year that they were ending their 29-year marriage. Although physical illness was cited as the reason for the separation, the actual reason for ending their long married life has not yet been revealed.
