The relentless violence in the besieged Gaza Strip continues, with Israeli attacks claiming more lives. In the latest airstrikes, at least 80 more Palestinians were killed, pushing the total death toll beyond 50,350.
According to a report by the Anadolu Agency on Monday (March 31), Israeli assaults on Gaza have killed at least 80 people in the past day. Since the conflict escalated in October 2023, Israeli airstrikes have taken the lives of at least 50,357 Palestinians.
A statement from Gaza's Health Ministry reported that on Sunday alone, 53 bodies were brought to hospitals. Over the past 48 hours, Israeli strikes have also injured at least 305 people, bringing the total number of wounded since the start of the conflict to 114,400.
The statement also noted that many victims remain trapped under the rubble or lying on the streets, with rescuers unable to reach them.
Since March 18, fresh Israeli airstrikes have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians and injured around 2,400 others. These renewed attacks have shattered the ceasefire agreement that had been in place since January.
According to the United Nations, Israel’s ongoing bombardment has displaced approximately 85% of Gaza’s Palestinian population. Additionally, around 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
Following 15 months of aggression, Israel agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza on January 19. This brought a brief period of relative calm. However, disagreements with Hamas over troop withdrawals led to the resumption of Israeli airstrikes in mid-March.
