Following a deadly gunman attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, that left 26 people dead, India has suspended all types of visas for Pakistani citizens. The Indian government alleges that Pakistan had an indirect role in the incident.
On April 23, in response to the attack, India also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, revoked special visa privileges for Pakistani nationals, and declared Pakistani military advisers at the Pakistani High Commission in India as persona non grata. Additionally, the main border crossing between the two countries is set to be closed.
On April 24, India expanded its measures by suspending all visa services for Pakistani citizens, including medical visas.
According to a statement from India's Ministry of External Affairs, all valid visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be cancelled and effective from Sunday, April 27. Medical visas will remain valid only until Tuesday, April 29.
The statement also instructed all Pakistani nationals currently in India to leave the country within this revised timeframe.
Indian media outlet NDTV reported that Pakistani citizens holding Indian visas will have 72 hours to exit the country.
