Russian drone and missile strikes have reportedly killed 10 people, including a child, in and around Kyiv.
According to Reuters, Ukrainian officials stated on Monday that the overnight attacks ignited fires in residential areas and damaged the entrance to a metro station's bomb shelter.
The report indicates that rescuers recovered bodies from the rubble of an apartment block in Kyiv's bustling Shevchenkivskyi district, located less than a kilometer from the US Embassy.
Ukraine's Interior Ministry reported at least 9 fatalities in that district. Meanwhile, Ukraine's emergency services stated that at least 34 people, including four children, were injured in the Kyiv attacks.
From midnight until almost dawn, the city was rattled by anti-aircraft unit explosions and machine gun fire targeting drones.
The Ukrainian Air Force claims to have shot down 339 of 352 Russian drones and 15 of 16 missiles launched during the attacks across four Ukrainian regions.
Reuters also reported that a separate missile attack on Ukraine's Black Sea region of Odesa on Monday afternoon killed at least two people and injured 12, according to local governor Oleh Kiper.
