Former US First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has written a foreword in the renowned American magazine Time. In it, she makes several comments about Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the interim government.

Hillary Clinton wrote, "Last year, after a student-led uprising toppled Bangladesh’s authoritarian prime minister, a familiar figure stepped forward to guide the nation toward democracy—Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus."

Decades ago, Dr. Yunus established Grameen Bank in Bangladesh to empower marginalized communities through microcredit. He provided loans to millions of poor people (97 percent of whom were women) to help them build businesses and sustain their families. Yunus undertook this initiative to help disadvantaged women change their destinies and restore their dignity.

The former US Secretary of State writes, "I first met Yunus when he traveled to Arkansas to help then Governor Bill Clinton and me establish similar programs in the United States. Since then, wherever I have traveled in the world, I have seen the extraordinary impact of his work—lives transformed, communities uplifted, and hope reborn."

According to her, Muhammad Yunus is leading Bangladesh out of the shadow of oppression. He is working to restore human rights in Bangladesh, establish accountability, and lay the foundation for a just and free society.

On August 5, 2024, Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled in the face of a mass uprising. The following day, President Mohammad Shahabuddin, after dissolving the National Parliament, nominated Muhammad Yunus to serve as the head of Bangladesh's interim government based on the students' demands. He assumed office as the Chief Advisor of the interim government on August 8th.
