The government has decided to recruit over 100,000 teachers to fill vacant positions in private educational institutions across Bangladesh. The Ministry of Education plans to issue the sixth mass notification for teacher recruitment within the next three months. For this purpose, the Non-Government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has requested data from educational institutions on their vacant positions.

According to sources, the recruitment process may start next month once the data is received. The NTRCA expects around 100,000 vacancies in the sixth notification, as only about 19,500 positions out of 97,000 from the fifth notification were filled. Approximately 77,500 positions remain vacant, with an additional 20,000 to 25,000 new vacancies expected due to retirements this year. The notification is likely to be published within three months.

An NTRCA official mentioned that preparations for the sixth notification are nearly complete, and they anticipate the number of vacancies to exceed 100,000.

On October 30, the NTRCA began collecting vacancy data online, known as e-Requisition. Educational institutions can submit their data until November 10, and the requisition fee can be paid online until November 13. This is the first time institutions have been asked to submit projected vacancy data for the next three years (through December 31, 2027). The NTRCA had previously completed an e-registration process to update institution information.

The last mass notification, the fifth, was issued on March 31, with 96,736 vacancies: 43,286 in schools and colleges and 53,450 in madrasas, business management, and technical institutes. On August 21, the Ministry of Education approved the appointment of 19,586 selected candidates.

After receiving and verifying the data on vacancies, the NTRCA will seek approval from the Ministry of Education to issue the notification. Once approved, the notification will be published.

Confirming the details, NTRCA Secretary A.M.M. Rizwanul Haque stated that they have called for vacancy data as part of the preparations for the sixth mass notification. Once approved, the notification will be issued within three months.

Since 2005, NTRCA has been issuing teacher registration certificates. Initially, teacher recruitment authority was held by the governing bodies or managing committees of the institutions. However, on December 30, 2015, the government granted NTRCA the power to recommend appointments. Since then, NTRCA has recommended a total of 132,898 teacher appointments through five mass notifications up to August 31, 2024.
