The coordinator and two officials from the tribunal's investigation agency formally handed over the report on Monday morning (May 12) at 10:55 am to Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam. The agency claims to have found evidence that Sheikh Hasina ordered the massacre.

This is the first investigation report implicating Sheikh Hasina in the July massacre and marks the first formal acknowledgement of her alleged involvement. The prosecution is expected to hold a media briefing later today to provide further details.

A day earlier, on Sunday (May 11), a source from the tribunal confirmed that the report would be submitted on Monday.

Chief Prosecutor Tazul Islam also posted on Facebook last Friday, stating that the investigation report against Sheikh Hasina was expected to be submitted on May 12. He added that once the report is submitted, formal charges will follow, officially launching the trial proceedings.

Previously, on February 18, the tribunal—led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar—ordered the investigation into the July–August killings, considered crimes against humanity, to be completed by April 20. The directive came in response to a time extension request made by the prosecution, represented in court by Additional Chief Prosecutor Mizanul Islam.
