Heatwave has been sweeping across the country for several days. The ongoing situation may subside in some parts of the country. However, a fresh 48-hour heat alert has been issued in four divisions.
This information was given in a notification signed by meteorologist Omar Farooq on Friday afternoon (May 17).
Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the next 72 hours commencing from 9 am on Friday said that the western trough extends from West Bengal to Northwest Bay. In this situation, there may be rain in one or two places in Sylhet division in the next 24 hours commencing from 9 am on Friday. Mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and it may continue.
Besides, the ongoing heatwave situation may abate from most parts of the country in the next 24 hours from 9 am on Sunday. Day and night temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsius over the country.
