Fascist Motif Captivates Procession

People across the country are welcoming the Bengali New Year with songs, poems, and joyous processions. The 'New Year's Harmony, End of Fascism' theme marked the 'New Year Joy Procession' that emerged from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dhaka University (DU).

Thousands of people participated in this procession, which began at 9 am on Monday (April 14).

The procession started from in front of the Faculty of Fine Arts and, after circling Shahbagh intersection, TSC intersection, Shaheed Minar, Physical Education Center, Doel Chattar, and the road in front of Bangla Academy, ended again at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

Like previous years, the spectacle of colors and festive atmosphere was visible this time as well. However, a particular effigy caught everyone's attention: the effigy of a fascist.

After the previously made effigy was burned, another effigy was made again with cork sheets. Along with this, the 'water needed water' motif, in memory of Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdha, who was killed in the July movement, and the hilsa fish motif also caught everyone's attention.
