BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has described the recent court ruling as a victory for the people.
His statement came following the High Court's dismissal of a writ petition seeking to block Ishraque Hossain from taking the oath as Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). Speaking from Bangkok, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment, Mirza Fakhrul shared his reaction with the media.
Calling on the Ministry of Local Government to expedite the oath-taking process, he said, "I hope the ministry will act without further delay or obstruction and will arrange for Ishraque Hossain to take his oath, helping to restore normalcy."
He also appealed to BNP leaders and activists to refrain from blocking roads or causing public inconvenience while protesting the issue.
It is worth noting that Mirza Fakhrul traveled to Bangkok on May 14 for eye surgery. The procedure, performed the following day at Rutnin Eye Hospital, was successful. He remains under close observation by medical professionals at the facility.
