Australia crowned Women's World Cup for sixth time

Australia frustrated the host South Africa to win the record sixth title in Women's Twenty20 World Cup final held at Newlands, Cape Town.

Aussie captain Ellyse Perry won the toss and decided to bat first in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 final. Australia scored 156 runs on the board after losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. 

In response, South Africa's innings stopped at 137 runs due to the failure of their batters.

Australia started to play aggressively from the beginning. The two openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney combined to put 36 runs on the scoreboard in 6 overs of the powerplay. 

However, the Proteas bowlers did not let that pair to grow.  South Africa got the first wicket by sending Healy back into the Pavilion.

After that, Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney started batting together. These two batsmen put 46 runs a partnership together.

However, Australia lost their second wicket in 11.5 overs scoring 82 runs. Gardner departed scoring 29 runs off 21 balls.  The Australian women's team lost their third in 103 runs.

Then Meg Lanning and Beth Mooney tried to put a big total but failed. 

Lanning departed 17.1 overs. Then the Australia put up a challenging total on the board with the help of their middle order batter. 

Mooney scored unbeaten 74 runs off 53 balls.

Chasing the total of 157 runs, South African batter lose their first wicket in just 17 runs. The opener Tazmin Brits left the field scoring 10 runs. 

Then the two south african batter Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp tried to handle the initial blow. 

However, they were not very successful. Kapp departed scoring only 11 runs off 11 balls. 

Adding just another 8 runs and losing their third wicket, African batter were under pressure.

Later, Wolvaardt made a big partnership with Chloe Tyrone. 

However, Wolvaardt's dismissal in 16.3 overs ended Africa's hope to win the world cup.  Departure of Laura Wolvaardt with a personal 61 runs off 48 balls shattered the dreams of African fans. After that the rest of the batters could not help the team to win the title.

So, Australia Women won by 19 runs. Beth Mooney got the Player of the match award and Ashleigh Gardner got the Player of the series award.
