Salahuddin not resigning amid pressure, rather vows to contest polls
After the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina's government in a mass uprising by the students, demands for the resignation of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Kazi Salahuddin's demand have been raised. However, he has announced re-election after rejecting the demand for resignation.
He told the media on Tuesday (August 13), 'I will not resign. I will choose to contest polls. It is my democratic right to choose. How can you deprive me of that?'
Salahuddin feels that he did not do anything wrong to leave. He will only move if he loses the election. He refuses to be intimidated by any threats. If necessary, the president will seek security from the interim government.
BFF elections are scheduled to be held on October 26. Kazi Salahuddin has decided to run for the fifth term as president.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh football supporters' organization 'Bangladesh Football Ultras' has given an ultimatum to Salahuddin to resign. However, Salahuddin, who has been the president of BFF since 2008, does not give importance to that ultimatum.
