Persistent active monsoon conditions are set to bring widespread precipitation and thundershowers to Bangladesh over the coming three days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The weather agency indicated that active monsoon dynamics will continue to dictate atmospheric conditions across the nation, triggering widespread rainfall accompanied by sporadic gusty winds that are anticipated to persist even past the initial three-day outlook.

Issuing a public advisory, the BMD cautioned citizens, particularly residents in low-lying and flood-prone zones, to stay updated on official weather bulletins and implement preventive measures to manage risks associated with intense downpours and lightning strikes.

Details from the BMD’s 120-hour weather bulletin project light to moderate rain or thunderous activity nationwide, with gusty winds and localized pockets of moderately heavy precipitation.

For August 1, rainfall and thundershowers are predicted across many areas in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, whereas Rajshahi and Khulna divisions may record showers at a few locations.

Isolated areas could experience moderately heavy falls. Daytime temperatures may register a slight uptick, while nighttime temperatures are projected to hold steady.

On August 2, wet weather will persist across the country. Light to moderate precipitation or thundershowers are anticipated across many parts of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, while Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Dhaka divisions are expected to receive rain at scattered sites.

Isolated locations could record moderately heavy downpours, with daytime temperatures holding firm and overnight temperatures rising marginally.

By August 3, the rainy spell is expected to intensify and expand, affecting most areas across Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions with rain and thunderstorms.

Several locations across Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Dhaka divisions will also experience precipitation.

Moderately heavy showers remain likely in parts of the country, while both daytime and nighttime temperatures are expected to show little variation.
